The book begins with elena awakening as a vampire. She is disoriented, and has been stripped of all her memories of Stefan and how she died. Eventually, she finds her diary, reads it, and regains her memories. Strange, unexplainable things are happening in Fell's Church. Elena tells Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt what she is and about the strange things that are happening caused by what they call, "The other power," They set off on a mission to find out what or who the other power is and destroy it.

  • Stefan Salvatore: Elena's vampire boyfriend, who appeared in the first book. He is dark and handsome, and not really tall, but he puts a big smile on Elena's face!
  • Elena: Now a vampire. Stefan's girl (turned by Damon).

  • Meredith: One of Elena's best friends. She believes in the supernatural, and is convinced she is a psychic.

i don't know exactly , but , didn't katherine herself say that she had killed klaus ? then , how and why he came to fell's church in 4th book ?
Klaus is an old one so he can't die and he comes because Katherine was killed and he cares for her.
