This is a slender book, pleasant, a little sad. Mary Cassatt painted her sister Lydia many times before Lydia died of Brights Disease in 1882. This fictionalized account of several years in Paris has five chapters, each told from Lydia's point of view and centering on one painting. The painting is included, and I was interested to hear a back story and comments on each one. I was also interested in the way the author works in information of other artists living in Paris at the same time, especially Degas.
