Very good - you figure out the "who-done-it" but keep reading to find out how the characters figure it out. The ending leaves you wanting more.

Good book until the ending. It is almost like the author concentrated all of the editing on the ending. Who was that girl (ghost?) who led Mary Katie away? What????

Kate Russell is a recent transplant to the small southern town of Carystown, Kentucky. Recently she has come to believe that she is being haunted by the ghost of Isabella Moon, a young girl who disappeared two years earlier. Convinced she knows where Isabelle’s body is Kate goes to the sheriff with her story. When Sheriff Delaney reluctantly follows up on the lead, he does find Isabella’s body. But now Kate is one of the prime suspects I the case and she has many secrets of her own to conceal- including why she came to this town in the first place. When another murder takes place some dark secrets of the town’s residents come bubbling to the top.

This book was a real page turner, and I really liked it, even if some of the plotting was familiar or obvious. The WTF? ending had me completely flabbergasted, and not in a good way. I just hated the conclusion and it took the overall rating of the book down a notch.

I was all set to say I loved this book, but the ending was a most unsatisfying, "WTF?"

This author does a wonderful job of creating very realistic, complex and layered characters. Her writing style is compelling and immediately draws you into the mystery. However, I found the themes and plot points in this book both too disturbing and upsetting for my tastes. Also, a variation of the main female character's story has been told before, in film. Overall, an interesting read if you're looking for complex characterizations, but on the whole, "Isabella Moon" a rather depressing and disturbing story.

Not what I expected, as in I expected this be a lot scarier, although it contains some pretty brutal scenes. The story is basically about the ghost of a young girl, Isabella Moon, contacting a woman, Kate Russell, in an attempt to help solve her (Isabella's) disappearance. It's also about Kate's running away from a previous life to Carystown, where the story takes place, the local sheriff's longing to solve the case of Isabella Moon, and a variety of other dysfunctional people that can only be found in the South (I can say that - I'm from the South) trying to cope with their personal torments. It all melds together in the end with what I thought was a rather abrupt conclusion. However, having said that, I did find the story intriguing. I wish it had been a little more tense and a little less romantic, but that may be personal preference more than anything else. I'm very interetested to watch this writer evolve and to read what she writes next

A great debut mystery/ghost story. Kate thought that moving to Carystown, Kentucky would allow her a fresh start but then she begins to have dreams about a little girl who went missing almost two years ago. In a town where everyone has secrets, the discovery of Isabella Moon's body will unearth more than just the identity of her killer before all is said and done.
