Haunting and acerbic. This novel will leave you speechless and aching.

I have always loved Toni Morrison. There is such a big voice narrator at work here, an omniscient narrator who loves to tell stories about all her beloved people, even if she doesn't exactly approve of all their actions and decisions. And perhaps, just a tiny bit, this voice of authority, irritates me. Maybe the world and humans just seem too complex and changeable for anyone to be able to make these kind of unequivocal statements.
But, you know what, I still think it's brilliant.

Possibly my least favorite book that I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

It was.interesting......my head was permanently cocked to the side during the whole ordeal...I might read it again when I can understand and relate to it, maybe...that is all.

Two sisters with an adversary relationship. Toni was one of the first to put women and relationships in her books. Of course, Zora Neale Hurston did it decades ago.

Great book, but wasn't an easy read... I may go back and read this one again.
