“Powerful, heart-wrenching, and so full of sybolism, I had to really pay attention. However, This is one of my favorite Morrison books. What won't a mother do for her children?”

I fall in the LOVE category. Besides the scandalous "Are You There God It's Me Margaret" and "Where the Red Fern Grows" books I read so many times the books actually fell apart, this is the ONLY book I have read more than three times. The amazing thing is, it feels like I'm reading it for the first time with every re-read. ”
“one of my favorite books of one of my favorite authors”

Even though Beloved is fiction, Tony Morrison provides amazing insight into the psychological impact of slavery and the emancipation of slaves on the individuals. She’s truly wonderful at creating this interplay between community and the identity of the individual self; how one goes about reclaiming their individual identity and their sense of self-worth after slavery. While there are different elements at play, the most important aspect is for the characters to overcome the fear, trauma, and pain they associate with the past so they can move forward.”
