I did not understand most of the epic, and it was very boring.

Great poem but better in the original Latin. Lombardo's take on Virgil was a little rough around the edges in terms of auditory poetic quality and vocabulary choices...a lot of the subtlety was lost. Maybe it was Lombardo's fault, or perhaps the natural consequence of attempting to translate such a well-written Latin poem into a new language two thousand years later. I'll have to read some other translations before I make a judgement call. Overall, though, this version was adequate, if unremarkable.

Better than the Iliad and not as good as the Odyssey. I liked some of the characters and the discussion of the Trojan War, and I liked how personal the battles were. There was still quite a bit of A killed B, but there were more vignettes of direct encounters with the background behind them

What an epic story! The consequences that occur from a petty rivarly between two Goddesses cannot be ignored! The King of the Trojans judged Venus more beautiful than Juno. So, naturally, Juno gets pissed and condemns the Trojans. Greeks sack Troy and the survivors are forced on a perilous journey to reestablish themselves. Of course, Juno can't have that so she makes trouble. Arising from Trojan ashes is the benevolent and courageous Aeneas, son of Venus, to lead the Trojans along the way. After loads of bloody battles and divine intervention, Aeneas finally succeeds and founds Lavinium, which will eventually become Rome. A must read!

I never liked the Aeneid as much as The Iliad or The Odyssey.

Virgil tried to pack both "Iliad" and "Odyssey" into one book. I obviously adore the "Aeneid" and will probably be translating it next term, but it's still not Homer.

It's good if you would like to read a very long poem. It's summary is 100% easier to read!
