“Pretty good book - especially for foodies. The evolution from Beard to Julia Child to the Food Network is an intriguing story.I felt like the book ran out of some gas in the latter half - as he started ripping through Starbucks,Emeril, Thoma Keller etc - felt like he was checking the box whereas the earlier parts of the book felt more thoughtful. But overall if you like cookbooks and Food Network you will like this book”
“You need to be a foodie to like this book. fortuntely, I am, even though I don't know the restaurant scene in New York or California. But when I was young, I was enchanted by Julia Child and love fresh, ethnic food that was new to me as an adult. I skimmed over the details and name-dropping to enjoy the general history of American's food history since WWII. No recipes.”
