This has always been one of my favorite plays, but I had never paid much attention to the fantastical elements until reading it for PBT. Prospero is a wizard, Ariel is a "tricksy spirit" who can change into a water nymph and who commands a band of other spirits....

As I remember it, rather funny. A short and enjoyable Shakespeare play.

This one is okay... I really like Shakespeare, but the comedies are not my favorites. I really prefer the tragedies, actually... Still, it's good.

The play is decent, but it is not one of his best. It involves love, comedy, magic, and battles. If you are a lover of Shakespeare I do suggest you read this play at least once.

I know, I know - it's Shakespeare. My new thought is to avoid reading his plays and only see them performed. The whole structure of the writing is different and does not appeal to me. I never became engrossed in this odd story of the deposed ruler of Milan turned magician and his strange (quasi)-quest for revenge. The love interest between his daughter and the son of the ruler of Naples may be more tangible when performed.

my personal favorite and my vote of the best Shakespeare ever wrote. The Ariel/Caliban element works on many levels. I may not think it symbolizes the man's farewell to the theatre, but I do think it is his greatest.

Honors had to read it last year, but I wan't in honors. I read it in my freetime and absolutely loved it! Mr. Heil snuck me on the field trip to see the play, and I must say that that was the best day ever.
