Some of the art was good, but the stories were lame and did violence to the Arabian Nights.

Fantastic, beautiful artwork, and the frog prince's back story made me cry

This was the first Fables book I've read.

Walt Disney meets Richard Burton in this interesting take on 1001 Nights Arabian Tales. As expected, this novel is in no way a children's storybook. The stories range from dreamlike to horror. The colors are amazing. Scheherazade is played by Snow White, enchanting the sultan with her tales of creatures from another land. Since there's a whole range of artists that put together their sketches, you're not sure what to expect when each story ends and a new one begins.

This critically acclaimed graphic novel received the Eisner Award. I definitely plan to read more from this series.

Interesting twist on fairytale characters. Mature themes, so not for kids. Gives a darker background to Snow White's time in the woods, and the Frog Prince tale is very, very sad. I'm interested in reading the "Fables" series now. The artwork does not disappoint - gorgeous.

This book centers almost entirely on Boy Blue and his trip to the homelands. His trip reveals the true identity of the adversary, and some other characters are introduced. Prince Charming is making a royal mess of his rule as mayor, but Beast has come into his own as Sheriff. It's a good story, and really important to the overall story line, but it seemed to lack the ability to hold my interest as thoroughly as the previous ones. This is such a great story.

Nice retelling of fairy stories ... I haven't read the others in the series, and that's serendipitous since this is really a prequel to the series.

This volume was different from the other in the series, but in a good way.
Some of the stories were very well illustrated.

It's a brilliant take on everything I long dismissed as boring and old. It takes everything you remember and gives it a fresh spin in a very bold way. Great stuff!
