“Jack is a boy who doesn't like writing or poetry. However as he jots stuff down his teacher gets him to expand his thoughts and he begins to show his creative side. He goes back and forth with the teacher in a private notebook about his poems. He finally becomes so comfortable with his writing that he invites he favorite author to the school and is finally able to talk about his dog.
This is great way to get kids interested in reading and writing poetry. It really got me interested in reading it. It just captures your heart and it so easy to follow. It is a great first piece to share with young kids.
This book could be the start to a poetry lesson.
"Do you promise not to read it out loud? Do you promise not to put it on the board?"”
