“I had a hard time connecting to the main character as my personality was far different from hers. It was a cute story all in all, but not my favorite.”

As a child of the eighties, I enjoyed the pop references of that time period. All I can say eighties ruled.
Giffin makes Rachel into a sympathtic character. So you are not upset when she starts having an affair with her best friend's fiance. I actually was rooting for Rachel and Dex to get together.
It seems that alot of Giffin's life experiences make it into the book, like living in New York, working as a lawyer and even her England experience. Which make alot of the book ring true.
This was a nice lite chick lit.

“This a great book with well-developed characters who experience real life problems. Though the narrator commits the ultimate betrayal of friendship, she is presented in such a sympathetic way that you find yourself rooting for her in spite of it. Ends with a great twist. ”

The main character experienced things that real people go through. Not just circumstances, but actual emotions. It was such a great book and it wasn't fake. It was real life and showed what real people go through, but it still remained fiction. I'd recommended this for young women and also older women. It's such an interesting read!”

Here's a heroine you'll root for and a book you won''t want to put down" -Lauren Weisberger, author of The Devil Wears Prada
Rachel is an attorney living and working in Manhattan who has always been the good girl-until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend Darcy throws her a party. That night after too many drinks Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy's fiance. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for him. As the September wedding date nears, Rachel has to choose. She discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk it all to win true happiness.
When I found this book from the local library and read the back cover, I was sure I would dislike Rachel, because she "steals" her best friends fiance. Me and my best friend Ida has been friends like 14 years now, and I was thinking that I could never do that kind of thing to her.
While reading the book my mind changed a lot. First of all, I did not hate Rachel. Someway I felt bad for her. She loves Dex and Dex loves her, but they cannot be together because of Darcy.
I also started to dislike Darcy. All the things the book tells about Darcy and Rachel's past make me feel even more worse for Rachel; Darcy has always been the number one on their friendship and she has always got everything Rachel has wanted without any effort.
Towards the end of the book things just kinda settle down easily, without any big problems. I did not like that. I wish everything would work that easily in life. :) I really enjoyed this book though and it was pretty fast to read.”
“Loved this! Quick & easy read, kind of 20-something ish, but good!”
