Light Yagami is a bored but brilliant ace-student. One day, he finds a mysterious notebook which can kill anyone by just writing their name in it. Light is frightened at first, but then vows to use the power of the notebook to kill criminals in order to make the world into a peaceful utopia. With criminals dropping left and right, an enigmatic detective known as L steps up to discover the identity of the killer and stop the ruthless murders. With L hot on his heels, will Light loose sight of his noble goal?

  • Light Yagami: Light is an incredibly smart teenage boy, who is solely interested in the road to college, until he finds the death note. After which, he devotes himself to killing the world's criminals. He is also known to the world as Kira.
  • L: A mysterious detective who hides in the shadows. He is the best of the best.
  • Ryuk: Ryuk is a death god, known as a shinigami. He "dropped" the death note into the human world so that someone could pick it up, to ease his boredom.
  • Watari: Wataki is, in short, L's assistant. He is in charge of taking his laptop where he needs it, to establish communication.
  • Sayu Yagami: Light's sister, Sayu is fourteen years old.
  • Soichiro Yagami: Light and Sayu's father, Chief Yagami is in charge of the Kira case.
  • Sachiko Yagami: Sachiko Yagami is Light and Sayu's mother, and Chief Yagami's wife.
  • Raye Penber: An agent
  • Freddi Guntair: An agent

  • Yuri: Yuri was a girl who Light asked out in order to successfully create a good reason of why he should be on the bus to Spaceland.
