Really liked the setting of Tombstone and Ms. Bull's magical interpretation/addition. I wanted more from the end of the book, more wrap up, more explanation, but I have heard rumors of a sequel. Let's hope it comes about! A thoroughly engrossing read of the old American west we thought we knew. ”

In this case, the famous showdown happens offstage, but it is still very important to the book. It took me a few tries before I became engaged with the characters; now I'm hoping there is a sequel. Who would have thought of mixing fantasy with western? Especially in these post-_Deadwood_ days? Actually, the tv show _Deadwood_ has a similar feel to this book; no fantasy in that series, of course, but these characters are just as smart and interestingly devious.”

I think that applying a sheen of fantasy over well known events, although the cover is TERRIBLE and makes no sense, does her style a load of good. She has definitely matured as a writer, and I hope that she continues in this vein for her next novel.”

An example of "hidden history" in which nothing we actually know has been altered to accommodate the plot. Emma did considerable research and her storytelling ability has never been better displayed.”
