“After watching the movie "The Postman". I found about their being a book, so I read it and enjoyed the movie better. Kevin Costner is a great director and can make anything seem good. His half of the story made me think the book was going to be good, but it was a descent read I would probably not read again. And if I do read it again it will only be the first third of the book.”Josh A wrote this review Saturday, February 13, 2010. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Mildly entertaining at best, too much melodrama and silly convenient escapes.... deus ex machina.... though maybe Im using that phrase incorrectly. Regardless, not a fan.”Ian A wrote this review Sunday, January 17, 2010. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“When I read this book I thought it was a tale of an almost impossible world of the distant future and that it was well crafted but not something that was showing the reality of our relatively near future. Then on June 2, 2009 the ABC network put out a 2 hour special where they crafted a story that was researched by many experts from the various worlds of science and technology, including the Psychosocial sciences which are steadily gaining ground on the the mechanisms that are evident in this society we have crafted over the last 5,000 years. The conclusion was that we are headed into a dark period of disruption and upheaval. It was told as a worse case scenario but it included The destruction of Miami and the abandonment of Las Vegas. It can be seen on hulu.com as Earth 2100. IT is two 43 minute segments and it is an eye opener. Now looking back at this rendition of the American Tale it has more potential as a look into the future. The war may not be the deciding factor, but the Earth may. Good read as a manual for all heroes of the coming age, and I would recommend the video too if you don't believe it can happen.”Paul W wrote this review Saturday, July 18, 2009. “I've always liked the movie version of this book, but I only noticed
that it was even based on a book the last time I watched it.
The first half of the book and film are fairly similar in terms of
plot. The second half's are completely different, and I vastly prefer
the film version from here on out.
I found the whole Cyclops super computer and it's 'servants' thing to
be so stupid, and totally unnecessary. And the Amazon women army
to be such a thing of reckless stupidity and the author half
praised them despite having Gordon condemn their actions, almost
idealized that these women gave themselves up to be gang raped to
death in some misguided effort to fight the war 'the men had started'.
Fortunately, none of that was described, but the idea was so awful!
I'm going to stick with the movie.”
