Liked It“The first few chapters started a little slow for me but then i was just amazed how well written the rest of the book was. Didn’t Like It“I enjoy Hawkin's books and I loved the plot concept but in the end it didn't deliver as much as I would've hoped. However, I do love the characters. MUCH better than the 2 newer books (Her Master & Commander & Her Officer And Gentleman) by her that I've read. I'm reading the next related book (The Belated Bride) next. I liked that the heroine was a thin, plain, small chested eccentric reformer. :)”

If he doesn't marry by midnight and live scandal-free for a year, he loses his inheritance. Julia's transformation in Alec's eyes from plain brown wren to elegant swan is a really enjoyable read.
First lines:
It was a hell of a night for an elopement. After three miserable hours, the rain had finally ceased.”
