“As a magazine journalist, I could appreciate the story-telling skills of these incredibly talented writers, but it was frustrating to think that some of these stories never went to print because they would ruffle corporate feathers or rub a finicky editor the wrong way.
Example: One of the articles, which is a scathing indictment of The Body Shop founder Anita Roddick (before she died a few months ago, of course), made me think twice about buying Body Shop products. It was a great article, but it got swept under the rug of self-censorship and corporate intimidation.
At any rate, if you like magazine writing (or if you hate The Body Shop), you'll love this book. ”
