“I wanted to like this novel with the way the author developed the character conflicts. I couldn't buy into her central plot concept that a king from another world would be better than a corrupt council. Perhaps I'm too used to democracy to buy into it ;-) The 'curse' really simplifies the plot too much to 'well they have to behave this way now'. ”
