I liked this book at first, but very soon after the book started it was a wierd story hard for me to relate to. Written well, but not my kind of book.

However it would be good if you liked a story about someone with troubles or if you could relate to "Chloe"

Jordan is all by himself in New York City. Until one night when he hears the devastating sound of a girl being raped in the alley way behind a warehouse where he sleeps. He yells and threatens the guy that he has called the cops. They eventually run off, leaving the girl laying there. Jordan finds out that girl is Chloe, and they become friends. They take care of each other and Jordan tries and protects her from all the bad in the world. Then again, Chloe knows all about the bad. As they heal and grow with each other, they see the good that the world also has to offer. They go on a road trip across the country that turns into a whirlwind filled with adventures. As both Jordan and Chloe move on with their lives they discover who they really are.

New York City isn't as safe as it may seem. Jordan knew it as he watched a gang commit a horrible crime... rape. He didn't know what to do, but decided to hide and call out he had called the police. When a stroke of luck came, and sirens could be heard in the distance, the gang ran off. Things like this happen all the time in NYC, especially to tall, pretty girls like Chloe. Jordan soon found out this girl had seen too much in her life. Chloe isn't stupid, but she doesn't understand the world. She saves his life multiple times and is extremely smart, but what is it about her that makes Jordan think she's stupid? A life changing journey brings out the beauty of the world to Chloe, to show her it isn't all ugly. Relationships grow, views change, and Chloe brings out her inner self to Jordan. Chloe isn't who she appears to be.

Sappy story about learning to see the beauty in the world in spite of the "ugly" in the world.

Meet Jordy. He’s on his own in New York City. Nobody to depend on; nobody depending on him. And it’s been working fine.Until this girl comes along. She’s 18 and blond and pretty–her world should be perfect. But she’s seen things no one should ever see in their whole life–the kind of things that break a person. She doesn’t seem broken, though. She seems . . . innocent. Like she doesn’t know a whole lot. Only sometimes she does. The one thing she knows for sure is that the world is an ugly place. Now her life may depend on Jordy proving her wrong. So they hit the road to discover the truth–and there’s no going back from what they find out. This deeply felt, redemptive novel reveals both the dark corners and hidden joys of life’s journey–and the remarkable resilience of the human soul.

This was an inconceivable novel. Profound and seductive. It was an prodigious. I laughed and felt tears crimp my eyes. The meaning of this novel had a huge impact on myself. The beginning of the novel was so dark and ghastly. After the middle of the novel it started looking up into what you know the world like. It's beautiful with a ton of nice people in it, but there are also terrible people. This read tells both sides of the world.

Jordan, aka Jordy, is a great narrator, he's very interesting and has a dark past. The way he takes care of Chloe, whom he doesn't even really know, she just practically got dumped on him, is a love like no other. Chloe's personality is so unique and so eccentric and compelling. She's a smart girl, who around Jordy seems so child-like and fragile. She's had such a rough past she doesn't even know when something good happens or when something bad happens. It's like Jordy decided that she is his sick, depressed sister. It's really intriguing.

Catherine Ryan Hyde writes a masterpiece of words that means something so colossal. She writing is superb and it really impressed me. I can't wait to read her honest other work.

Jordan is living on the streets of New York when Chloe finds him. He’s been basically kicked out of his family because of who he is and left to fend for himself. After being hurt, Chloe’s the one who nurses him back to health, forming a bond that really can never be broken. When Jordy finds out that Chloe’s fighting her own demons, he sets out to show her how beautiful the world is even throughout all of the badness that seems most prominent. They meet many people, see a ton of great sights, and learn more about themselves and the world than they had ever imagined. But what will they decide. Is the world more beautiful than it is ugly or is it the other way around? The one thing no one can doubt is that their lives will never be the same.

I don’t think this book hit me as hard as I had expected it to, but it was still a pretty amazing book. I was expecting to be blown away, but even though that might not have been the case, I was still reasonably wowed. The story itself is a great one and one that will make you rethink how you look at the world. Looking at the problems of our world verses the beauties of it from the eyes of someone who is seeing it all for the first time is really hard-hitting and it made me think; do I appreciate the beauty that is all around me? And I think that I’d have to answer that I probably don’t. You know, we are all just so busy rushing through our lives at break-neck speed that it’s rare that any of us really have time to stop and smell the flowers. I really would love if I were able to take a break from life and just go find things. Not necessarily even outside my own state. Just to be able to notice and appreciate things that I haven’t before would be enough. So as you can see, it’s the kind of book that really makes you think about things which is definitely a good thing. I also liked how the characters weren’t stereotypical at all. They were people that were battling their own problems in life, and found each other through that. It was nice to see characters out of the ordinary and who helped you expand your thinking. I also loved the whole self-discovery aspect of the book and how, in the end, the question of beauty wasn’t clear-cut. The author left it for you to decide if you thought the world was good and it was nice how a specific viewpoint wasn’t forced on you. So I would definitely recommend Becoming Chloe. Even though it wasn’t as provoking as I though it was going to be, it was still an amazing book.
