I have read this book 15-20 times. It's my favorite book from when I was a kid.

One of only a handful of books I read as a child in school that I really loved.

This was a favorite book of mine when I was younger, it's still fantastic. The rest of the series is not quite as good, but still worth reading.

Quite simply one of the best children's books ever.

When I was 12 I was over-the-moon about this book. What I remember was a fresh, compelling story, with surprising twists. The characters were interesting and persuasive. Little touches like scientific, odd, eccentric, awkward, or emotional characters were really appreciated and made the book so real. I never felt that "I am reading a fantasy novel." One just feels like a witness to extraordinary events. This book is well written for young people, but it is also an imaginative and really inspired work that all ages can enjoy.

This is a cool series. AND it is cross-generational, so many people will like it.

Upon the recent death of L'Engle, I re-read this book, which I loved as a child. The time travel back to the days in which women were teased for being scientists (the mother cooks for the family in her lab) and worried that they weren't beautiful enough to find a husband was more strange and bizarre to me than the travel through space. That's a good thing.
