By the end of this book, I was in awe. I learned something about the Theodore Roosevelt and even the whole Roosevelt family, that I didn't know before. By the end of this book, I was in awe. I learned something about the Theodore Roosevelt and even the whole Roosevelt family, that I didn't know before. I'm not sure how they made it out of the Amazon alive, but for the Grace of God. Their fortitude was amazing. I found the writer to be a little verbose at times, and often led me astray on the timeline. The overall story was very interesting.

  • Theodore Roosevelt: Former President of the US and adventurer, co-leader of the expedition
  • Col. Candido Rondon: Brazilian co-leader of the expedition to chart the Rio da Duvida, which proved to be over 1000 miles long and was totally unknown and unexplored. He was the commander of the Brazilian Strategic Telegraph Commision, and is considered a major hero in Brazil.
  • Kermit: Second son of Teddy Roosevelt who accomopanied him on the exploration of the River of Doubt in Brazil.
