Three unlikely strangers meet for the first time and bond at the scene of a mysterious murder. John, Jack, and Charles then meet Bert, who cryptically tells them they are the new guardians of The Imaginarium Geographica...of course, they have no idea what the book is and why it is important. But, they quickly find out that within its pages is the map, and thus the entry to, the Archipelago of Dreams. They must travel on the great ship The Indigo Dragon, a vessel that can safely travel in this new frontier. Once there, they must use their combined talents and wits to try to defeat The Winter King and take back these lands from the shadows that were created by his hand. Along the way, the reader will be surprised and reacquainted with many familiar (and presumed) fictional and mythological characters, lands, and artifacts that play an important part in all worlds. The reader will also have a very shocking revelation at the end of the story when the true identities of these young men will be revealed

This book was good, perhaps better than 4 stars. I need to read it again to be fair. I heard James Owen speak at a bookstore on the book and the series. The concept behind the entire series intrigues me, at least what I understood of it.

I enjoyed this very much -- lots of literary allusions. I'm anxious to try it out on a kid and see if they like it (whether they get the allusions or not).

i didn't think i was going to like this book at first, but the action in the story builds fast and keeps getting better. The ending was such a surprise that I had to read the next book in the series and i am impatiently waiting for the rest to be released.

James A. Owen took the words "What If", and created a wonderful series and how! He said what if the some of the world's greatest author and playwrights such as William Shakespeare, Jules Vern, James Barrie, H.G. Wells, J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams came up with their stories and plays not purely from imagination, but from very real events. Well he did just that in what is one of the hands-down best fantasy series out there. From the first page i was utterly captivated, John Jack and Charles have been appointed as caretakers of "The Imaginarium Geographica" or in English the Imaginary Geography which is a map, with John being the "Caretaker Principa" or Principal Caretaker. The IG is no ordinary map, it as the name may imply is a geography of Imaginary worlds and the people or creatures that live in them, Never, Never Land, check, Captain Nemo yep, the Weird Sisters, you betcha. It's all there..........and more, but only up to a certain point, this book is set in 1917, so anything after 1917 and this particular set of caretakers (I.E. the Harry Potter universe, and it's author J.K. Rowling) it's not there because it hasn't been created yet.

*WILL CONTINUE REVIEW TOMORROW!*this series (and Eragon) have made a life-long lover of fantasy out of me.

Fabulous fantasy book! This will make your imagination take flight, i love it!
