Cast of Characters/Important People
- Gregor: an 11-year-old boy from New York City. His grandma calls him Simon for an unknown reason.
- Boots: Gregor's 2-year-old sister. Her given name is Margaret (named after her grandmother). Nicknamed for her habit of stealing boots to play with. The crawlers call her "princess" because they believe that she is one.
- Luxa: Queen of the Underland, she will not have full power until she is 16. She is currently the same age as Gregor.
- Henry: Luxa's cousin.
- Aurora: Luxa's golden bat. Quiet, loyal, and fast.
- Ares: Henry's bat.
- Temp: a cockroach (crawler), who first discovered Gregor and Boots in the Underland

- Treflex: a brown spider (spinner)
