“Anne Sexton writes such beautiful poetry. Her work is incredibly descriptive, emotively and figuratively. She puts to words some complex notions and feelings. It is with the utmost reverence to read her poems.
In The Black Art, she writes,
"A woman who writes feels too much,
those trances and portents!
As if cycles and children and islands
weren't enough; as if mourners and gossips
and vegetables were never enough.
She thinks she can warn the stars.
A writer is essentially a spy.
Dear love, I am that girl."
I understand this, and at times have really related to that.
It is nice to know, because I feel like less of a freak, for feeling.
