The witch Paige and her sorcerer boyfriend Cortez are back and in Miami hunting down the supernatural who is killing off the Cabal children. This book has action, some light romance and plenty of mystery as the killer is uncovered. With stories filled with characters like witches, vampires, werewolves and necromancers.....Kelley Armstrong never fails to entertain.”

She’s been removed as leader of the American Coven and wants to start a new one that’s more progressive and that will be open to using spells that historically have only been used by sorcerers.Paige is in a serious relationship with a sorcerer lawyer, Lucas Cortez. Lucas is estranged from his father, a powerful cabal leader. When his father asks Lucas and Paige to join forces to find a killer, they’re reluctant to agree. However once they discover that someone is murdering the children of cabal leaders they decide to help find the murderer. This forces Lucas to spend time with his father, whose underhanded business practices don’t appeal to him.To find the killer Paige and Lucas enlist the aid of a centuries old vampire, a celebrity necromancer, a ghost, and several werewolves! The closer they get to the killer the more dangerous their lives become.

“I bought this book and on a whim, because when I start reading a series I get kinda obsessive and I had read the first two, I wasn't impressed at all with the first, but the second left me feeling a little more hopeful (and I had read reviews saying that the books got better). I skipped the third one and started reading this: It was awesome!!!
Paige is great; young, stubborn, but with lots of responsibilities, including raising a 13 year old orphan, which make her more adult. The plot is a who dunnit: who is killing off the kids of Cabal employees?
It was witty, modern (set one month after the 9/11 attacks) and kept me laughing...even with the somber plot line.
The Celtic deity was hilarious in his Scottish accent, hitting on Paige in the corpse of an old lady.
Jamie, the TV spiritualist was outlandish.
Cassandra is socially awkward at times-acting like a TV mother-in-law.
Paige won me over, and I'm going back to read the thrid book.”
“I'm so sad that Lucas and Paige's story is ending. I can't get enough of them. Kelley Armstrong has some shorts on her web site if you're like me and want more.”
