A Roman, Gluteus Maximus, is training for the Olympic Games and thinks he's going to win until he encounters Asterix and Obelix and then he gets depressed. The tribe decides that they will compete in the games, and Asterix and Obelix will represent them.

They get to Greece and encounter Diabetes, their guide, and they visit Athens and then move on to Olympia for training.

However, they cannot compete in the games since they would be using magic potion (their version of steroids), and since Obelix had already fallen into the potion, he also is disqualified. There is one special race for them and the Romans, though, to give Asterix the chance to win at least one laurel wreath.

Sort of funny, but not as funny as the average Asterix story.

This book is absolutely hilarious. Especially found it entertaining due to a number of reasons,
Colossus of Rhodes (one of the seven wonders of the ancient world) is a contestant in the olympics.
Geriatrix at 90+ establishes his character as a womanizer dancing the night away with greek women.
The entire village joins Asterix on this adventure (boars included)
The tour on Athens along with the statue of Zeus (another wonder of the ancient world) with thunder bolts clutched in his fists
The Gauls calling themselves Romans and are thus able to take part in the Olympics.
First mention of Steroids being banned at the games!
