First of all, this is not a novel for the masses. Second of all what appears to be many different languages is actually the phonetic spelling of local Irish pronunciation of various words. Third if you are confused by the first paragraph, realize that it begins mid-sentence and the sentence beginning is the last line of the book. Like it or not this is one of the greatest literary accomplishments by a mordern author. I'd suggest you purchase the Skeleton Key to Finnegan's Wake in order to...

    I dont like this book. What is the point of having so many languages and weird words in one book!? I dont think he has a point when writing this. I think he thought, "If I write something that'll confuse the hell outta everyone--they'll think it's great!" It was his claim to fame. The guy is a genius in that respect. In all honesty, I shun anyone who sits for years trying to make since of this run-on babble. Maybe no one can really grasp what it's about ....b/c it isnt about anything. I'm so annoyed with this. How is this literature! gr
