It gives far more detail than even the Discovery Channels documentary of class 234 by expanding the breath and depth of reporting. Dick Couch follows the class of 228 from their first days in Indoc training until they reach the teams. This process takes years and shows that training these guys go through is never ending.
The part I liked most about this story was that you really do want to see these guys make it through training. The likes Bill Gallagher and Clint Bruke arent just names in a sea of trainees, throughout the book I found myself rooting for them to make it and feeling sorry for those who had the drive to complete BUDS but got an unlucky injury.
I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to be a SEAL or who just wants to emulate their fitness and drive.”
“This is a really good one. Before you realize it, you're pulling for these guys in the book and you feel really down for the guys who didn't make it. ”

Much like the movie "300" this book can get you motivated to get in shape and toughen up. You will want to start doing pushups for breakfast and jog for brunch. Some people may find what the BUD/S students go through is excruciating, others may want to enlist after reading it. A testiment to what the soul, mind, and body can endure.”
