I admire most of Don DeLillo's writing, and I'm still shocked at the attacks of 9/11, so it is with reluctance I admit this book was only mildly interesting and not very moving to me. The novel interweaves the stories of four people - Keith, a man working in one of the twin towers who survives only to go on and become an onsessive gambler, his wife Lianne who works with Alzheimers patients and who struggles with their son who watches the skies for "Bill Lawton" and whose mother, Nina, has...

A bland and uninspired book about one of the most world-changing events in recent history, by one of my most favorite writers. DeLillo, if anyone, should be able to pull off a book about the attacks on the twin towers, and their effects on people. He's tackled large-scale historical fiction before in ways that felt true to both the emotions and the multilayered politics of the times -- read "Libra" if you have any doubts about DeLillo's abilities.
