“Nick Hornby could write a story describing an overheard conversation about watching paint dry and I would read it. In this case he wrote essays about popular songs, and the result is terrific. I don't even know most of the songs that he wrote about, but that isn't really the point, is it? The idea is that no matter what he writes about, I can't help but enjoy Hornby's insights and the magical way he uses language to share them.”

How it connects all of us; can make us feel alone in a room full of people, or in good company when we're all alone.”

I laughed out loud at his very honest and completely unpretentious explanations of his views on music, and was relieved that someone else out there understands the way certain songs completely take over your mind to obsessive, irrational levels. Yes, I'm playing [insert song of the moment here] for the 3000th time, and it still amazes me at every play. ”
