Liked It “Dave Barry tells the story of a 1950s era Christmas pageant through the eyes of a grade school boy. Obviously, it’s quite funny. It’s also short enough to be read in under an hour. “Great story. It's laugh-out-loud funny- one part had me tears I was laughing so hard. It's also sentimental without being syrupy glurge. It's also short enough to be a one-sitting read. ”

“Dave Barry uses his unique humor to give the reader a glimpse of the 1960's and the timeless angst of adolescence. Doug Barnes and his typical American family are preparing for Christmas in a small town. This means practicing for the Christmas play and all of the mishaps that occur there and at home during the hectic holiday season. The arrival of Walter and the chaos that follows is hilarious and heartwarming. This book and its illustrations left a smile on my face.”
