How can I call myself an SF buff when this is my first (conscious) Asimov book? Half short stories, half-commentary on his brand of Science Fiction, it's a book I should have read decades ago. The hard part is looking for his earlier "amazing" stories, the subgenre I favor best. ...

Collection of short stories and essays. Some good stories. Especially liked "Battle-Hymn". Some of the essays are informative, but mostly bland. Got me to read another Asimov book, "I Robot", in between.

Words of wisdom from the man who churned it out best: "We can define "sci-fi" as trashy material sometimes confused, by ignorant people, with SF. Thus, Star Trek is SF while Godzilla Meets Mothra is sci-fi."

Masterpiece of a collection. When I finished, I wanted to stand up and cheer. Isaac Asimov was and still is the greatest science fiction writer EVER.

In this collection of science fiction short stories and stories about science fiction short stories, Isaac Asimov once again writes with that distinctive style of his. Mr. Asimov has always had a clarity of thought and expression that few have been able to match. Whether it be the 500 word essay or 200,000 word novel, Asimov is able to grab your interest in the opening sentences of each story. This book is a combination of science fiction shorts and essays, some memorable, others. . ."interesting". Although Gold is billed as Isaac Asimov's "final" science fiction collection, I wouldn't be surprised if more undiscovered and unpublished works of Isaac Asimov were to come out in the years ahead. You'll like this book if you like Asimov, guaranteed.

My hands down favorite compilation of short sci fi stories. The man's thoughts on writing and the science fiction genre are also great and enlightening reads.
