Description
These are Augustine's writings from the time of his conversion to Christianity in A.D.386 until he became Bishop of Hippo in 395-396. This volume is part of The Library of Christian Classics containing the great literature of the Christian heritage.
First Sentence
IN De Ordine (I. iii. 6) ST. AUGUSTINE TELLS US OF his habit, during the sojourn at Cassiciacum, of lying awake in bed for half the night thinking his own thoughts, undisturbed by the two young pupils for whose education he was responsible, and for whose philosophical awakening the three disputations of that period were in part designed.
