I enjoyed reading Grundy's progress from a pretty much one dimensional to a character with more depth.

Okay. Now I can say I have read Piers Anthony. Stop asking me.

I believe this is the last Xanth novel I read, but I could be wrong; the puns all blend together at this point. They're serviceable novels that I enoyed greatly for about six months in my early teens, then grew out of. Still, I can't rightly say I didn't enjoy them. . .

The Xanth novels are a quick, fun and funny read. Great starter books for young fantasy readers. There is a ton of them and you can pick up any of them and start. Very recommended
