“I wonder if this book had been written by a woman instead of a man would it have been so well received as when women write stuff like this sometimes reviews say it is stereotyped, etc. I liked this book well enough but kept thinking how much can one woman (the main character) take? I did enjoy the ending; after all that struggle finally a light at the end of the tunnel (being vague here for anyone who hasn't finished reading it). I prefer mysteries so this isn't what I usually read but it certainly isn't the worst thing I've ever read. If you like this one, check out books by John Ehle.”
