S. E. Hinton is an amazing author and yet again she did an outstanding job of making the characters seem and feel so real. Hinton wasn't afraid to talk about real life issues and show that not all stories have happy endings. Bryon definately had a lot going on, and in the end I think he did the right thing by turning in Mark. Drugs are a scary but real life thing and I think this book was a real eye opener.

I read this book as a young teenager, maybe even 12. I hated it. I hated the ending. Because of this book I stopped reading young adult literature and skipped to adult novels. I should read it again from my now mature perspective.
