Trudie is haunted by memories. She remembers growing up in Germany and she believes that her father was a officer in Hitler's army in Buchenwald. Trudie is a history professor at the UM specializing in history of Germany. She begins a research project that causes her to face her fears and shame on a journey of redemption and restoration of relationship with her mother, Anne, who won't tell Trudie anything about their life in Germany.

Very good - written by a woman who worked for Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation interviewing Holocaust survivors. Highly recommend.
