50 Book Challenge! 4717 books / 4694 members / 31186 posts Welcome to the 50-Book Challenge! We are not listless. In fact, we love lists ...

A list of the books we've been looking forward to, for example, can be found by following this link:

http://astore.amazon.com/allencotrip-20

Our challenge is to read 50 books in one year. OR ... establish a goal for yourself more or less, it's up to you, just because we say 50 books doesn't mean that has to be your goal too.

To join, all you need to do is start a thread, WITH YOUR NAME IN THE SUBJECT OF YOUR ORIGINAL POST, and log your books (with title and author, please.) Reviews are always welcome as well. It is a very good idea to bookmark your post (when in your post, add it to your internet browser's favorites)for quick access for future updates. Things move quickly around here.

If you haven't been keeping track of the books you've read, start when you join.

I enjoy reading your lists, and my TBR pile has grown as a result and I've read books I wouldn't have otherwise (The Hunger Games, I'm talking to you ...)

It doesn't have to be all lists all the time, though ... People enjoy it when you comment on their lists as well, so when you update your list ... take a minute and browse around. You never know what you might find. (Water For Elephants, I'm talking to you.)

I survey the group each year starting in mid-December, until about mid-January then compile the lists and post the results. I look forward to this year's lists, now that the Twilight fervor has died down.

Thanks for being here and have fun. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact me.

BabeCake Reading 754 books / 185 members / 1854 posts BabeCake Reading is a general reading group that was originally intended as an adjunct to the Yahoo general reading group Babecakes. We’re here to discuss any book or reading material. All Book-a-holics are welcome. If you are not a member of the Yahoo Babecakes group, please feel free to apply for membership at groups.yahoo.com/group/Babecakes and PLEASE mention your age. Unlike this Shelfari group, the Yahoo group does have a minimum age requirement (although very little to no “adult” type of discussion actually happens).

You do not have to be a member of the Yahoo group to be a member of the Shelfari group and vice versa. To date, the Yahoo group seems to be the more verbose of the two groups but the Shelfari group has the advantage of the wonderful shelves.

Feel free to add to the shelves especially if you are discussing a particular book. It makes it SO much easier for interested members to get more information on the book that you mention.

Also feel free to open up a discussion whenever you wish to. If it is Off Topic (not about reading or writing) please put “OT” in your discussion topic title. Administrators, though, do reserve the right to erase topics that are a bit too much off of the topic or are offensive to most other members in our group.

BTW: Opening up a discussion on both the Babecakes and the BabeCake Reading groups will not be considered cross-posting and are welcome. In fact, for those of you who are on both groups, please feel free to cut and paste discussions (but not the responses please) from one group to the other. We administrators don’t always remember to do this and need the help.

HAPPY READING
Historical Romance 22 books / 23 members / 17 posts I choose Historical romance because I've been reading them since high school, sometimes I try writing my own romantic story, imaging the perfect guy, my Mr. Right.
In books everything can happen, in love everything is possible, and in this group I want everyone to talk about love and hope and good stories, to imagine what we want, to talk about what we liked the most about these books that took a big part of our time. maybe we will get something more then fiction and add it to our life, maybe we will live in our books.. maybe these books will bring us hope and they will shine upon us. :)
