The first of the Bridgeton series get us started with a wonderful story. Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings had a terrible childhood and has sworn off marriage and thus the possibilty of having children. He refuses to continue the Hastings line because his father was so horrible. Daphne is tired of her mother's meddling and attempts to get her married. Thus Simon and Daphne through a series of events decide to pretend to be a couple. Great romance with lots of twists and turns.

The first romance novel I ever touched and read. Quite memorable because a friend tricked me into reading it. (I was into historical fiction, the bloodier stuff, and she said this was full of it.) The story was sweet, the characters lovable, and the overall feel of the book promoted family. Recommended for young adults and not silly girls.

The first in the Bridgerton series and I enjoyed it very much. Reminded me very much of a Jane Austen novel with the banter between them and that it was very very funny and frequently so. I liked it very much and hope the rest are as good as the first.

The beginning of the Bridgerton series, the Duke and I is a fantastic historical romance that's going to make you want to fall in love while sipping some tea. It's charming and funny and perfectly adorable. I suggest it with no doubt that if given a chance, you will be hooked. A benefit of any of the Bridgerton books is that you get to revisit old characters while watching others grow up.
