When she was sixteen, Penelope fell in love with her friend's brother. But for the plain and gauche girl, the one always standing at the perimeter of the ballroom, yearning to be asked to dance, but bravely pretending she didn't care, it seemed that she was destined to watch him from afar. Then twelve years after longing for the one man who haunted her maidenly dreams, Penelope's secret prayer would finally be answered when she finally catches the eye of the charming Bridgerton brother Colin.
For Colin Bridgerton, she has always been just Penelope. The extremely shy wallflower who been a constant in his life, a permanent fixture at all Bridgerton gatherings due to her close friendship with his sister. Yet twelve years later and he starts noticing things about her - her wit and intelligence, and even how big and expressive her brown eyes are. And for the very first time, Penelope is no longer the awkward girl who simply happened to be "just there". For the handsome and legendary charmer Bridgerton number three, it matters that Penelope Featherington, the woman who is starting to stir feelings deep within him, is there.

This book is another wonderful addition to the delightful series. I was so happy to see Colin and Penelope end up together. I thought it was just wonderful getting to know more about Penelope, learning about the intelligent and witty woman hiding inside the shy spinster whom the notorious Lady Whistledown has made a laughing stock of in her Society column. And Colin, of course, is just heavenly - always so charming and sexy. I already liked him from AN OFFER FROM A GENTLEMAN. It is lovely to see how he finally opens his eyes and notices Penelope.
I loved Hyacinth, her witty remearks are wonderful to read . Dying to read her story. And finally the infamous Lady Whistledown is uncovered.
