    The best of the Series

I have to say for me this was the best of the whole series. I love Colin's devotion to Penelope, once he realizes his feelings for her he doesn't even hesitate. I also love that Penelope isn't the classic beauty she's a regular person with flaws and still ends up with the hero. Its wonderful! I can't help but love it.

Another good Bridgerton book from the series

This is the fourth book of The Bridgerton Series

This is my 2nd favorite love story out of all the Bridgerton series. This is Colin's story, whom I believe is the third eldest son in the Bridgerton family. This story is a different kind of love story from Benedict's story. It's more like a slow love story for Colin and Penelope. It's Colin slow realization of his love for Penelope that makes this a great read. And, I love how Colin is upset when he learns that Penelope has a secret. Definitely not a book to miss.

This book is a "MUST have" to add to your romance book collection.

The series follows the Bridgerton siblings

1st book- "The Duke and I" Daphne's story
2nd book- "The Viscount Who Loved Me" Anthony's story *eldest sibling*
3rd book- "An Offer From A Gentleman" Benedict's story *my favorite story out of the series*
4th book- "Romancing Mister Bridgerton" Colin's story *second favorite*
5th book- "To Sir Phillip, With Love" Eloise's story -haven't read yet-
6th book- "When He Was Wicked" Francesca's story -haven't read yet-
7th book- "It's In His Kiss" Hyacinth's story -haven't read yet-
8th book- "On the Way to the Wedding" Gregory's story *THE LAST of the series* -haven't read yet-

Not as good as the first three in the Bridgerton series...

This is my first experience reading Julia Quinn's novels. I started with the first book in the Bridgerton series, The Duke and I, and I was hooked. I truly enjoyed the first three in this series and couldn't wait to read Colin's story. I loved Colin's character in the first three books. I was so looking forward to reading a novel that included Colin's happy-go-lucky & charming disposition, but instead we got someone completely different? His character was nothing like the first three books. He was bitter, jealous and angry? I was so disappointed. I thought it would be refreshing to have a hero that is charming and not so brooding. Penelope was weak and I really could care less about her character. The romance was not believable between these two characters.

Since I enjoyed the first 3 books, I will continue the series only b/c I don't think it could get any worse than Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

    Romancing Mister Bridgerton

Julia Quinn hit her stride on books 3 and 4, then she lost it. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton was great. I've always thought Colin was the best Bridgerton because he has his hands in everybody's business. He was probably the most fully developed of the series. P.S. I knew who Lady W. was since book 2.

Ahhh! Now THIS is a romance novel.

After reading this book for the third time I realized I've never written a review for it here on Amazon. That situation is being rectified right now. Even after the third reading I know without doubt that I will read this book again in the future because it is that good for me. There have been so many reviews written concerning the plot that I'm not even going to get into that area. Just know that this is the fourth book in the Bridgerton series and the main characters are Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. I'm a little hit-or-miss on the full Bridgerton series. Books #1,2, and 4 I absolutely love. Book #3 was not as good for me. After book #4 I think there are lots of differing opinions as to quality of the individual stories. They can actually be read as stand alone novels because Julia Quinn puts in enough information to bring the reader up to speed on what happened previously. Since there are already so many reviews it may seem completely redundant for me to write one also, but I hope I can give you an idea of why I recommend this book so highly. Here are the reasons I love this book so much.

    1. The book is a wonderful example of the humor that Julia Quinn does so well in her books. There are lines in the story which always make me laugh out loud, even though I now know they are coming. The humor is never sly or mean spirited but reflects how good friends relate to each other.

    2. Penelope and her best friend, Eloise Bridgerton, are written to be women you expect to look up and see walk into a room. They are real, warm, engaging, sometimes exasperating, and loving. They are two women who are tied together by many circumstances in their lives, but first and foremost because they sincerely like each other.

    3. Penelope is not a perfect, ravishing woman. She is a little plump (even after losing her "baby" fat over 10 years previously), she is not beautiful, at 28 she has never been married and is officially considered to be a spinster, and she is very shy in social settings. According to the socially elite of London she completely disappears into the background. She is even relegated to the background by her mother and two of her sisters.

    4. This author has given her leading female character an intellect and allowed her to use it. How refreshing to read about a woman who is interested in all types of reading. Penelope is also fiercely independent although that doesn't become apparent to the reader until at least halfway through the book. And the secret Penelope is hiding is something which is logical, it makes sense, it doesn't grate on my nerves because it is so far fetched as to be completely unbelievable. Wow, how enjoyable that is for me. I get so tired of feisty heroines who do completely stupid or impossible things!

    5. Colin Bridgerton is a wonderfuly written character. He seems to have everything at his fingertips; good looks, health, incredible charm, money, social standing. And yet Ms Quinn gave him a vulnerability which could, and did, cause problems between him and Penelope. His insecurity was realistically delt with and I find myself charmed by his character over and over again.

I have often railed against Amazon's reviewing system because they only allow a rating choice between 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stars. Here is a book which proves why they are right and I am wrong. Even if I could give up to 10 stars for a rating, I would still want to give this book 11 or 12 or 13. Who knows where I would ever stop. Thanks Amazon. I don't really like the rating system but you have to put a stop in somewhere. It might as well be with 5 stars as with 10. Just between us though, for me, this book rates 5+++++. Maybe even a 15+++++!
