No offense but this book wasnt so good. I thought that it was dragging and quite complicated. I kept skipping but I have to admit that the beginning is interesting and although I didnt really like this I'm willing to read the 2nd epilouge :]

This book, while entertaining, didn't seem nearly as good as other Julia Quinn books. Starting out strong with a quick glimpse into the future, with our hero running down the streets of London and bursting into the church to tell the leading lady that she can't marry the man she is about to marry and should marry him because he loves her, I was quickly hooked and couldn't wait to see what happened to lead up to this point! Yet, the hero (while entertaining) did live up to the normal "strong" male lead and seemed rather sappy. Luckily, the female lead was entertaining and helped the story along. Overall, this was a pretty good book, but definitely not my favorite Julia Quinn book!

I laughed, I cried, and I had those heart-twisting moments. What more could you want from a book. I particularly liked the epilogue--very funny.

Combining the best elements of Shakespearian comedy with The Graduate (the interrupt-the-wedding-of-of-your-true-love part, not the seduced-by-an-older-woman part), Julia Quinn’s final installment of her popular Bridgerton series is a must-read for fans of historical romance. Gregory, the last of the eight Bridgerton siblings, finally meets his match in Lucy Abernathy, a practical, slightly obsessive compulsive young lady who definitely doesn’t believe in love at first sight, who scarcely believes in romantic love at all. While Gregory, having grown up surrounded by his siblings’ happy marriages, is a self-described hopeless romantic who has been waiting for the day when he will fall in love. The twist is that when Gregory is finally hit by the thunderbolt he has been anticipating, the object of his affection is not the heroine but Lucy’s best friend, Hermione. But Hermione has her sights set on someone else and, in their combined attempt to get Hermione to fall for Gregory, Gregory and Lucy discover one another. Of course, a few more obstacles pop up—most notably Lucy’s own engagement to the unusual Lord Haselby and the interference of various family members. Lighthearted and spiced with Julia Quinn’s cheeky style and witty dialog, On the Way to the Wedding is a delightful read and a worthy conclusion to the Bridgerton saga.

    My Amazon Review:
would have been 5 stars if not for the end...., August 3, 2006

let me first say I read this without having read the other Bridgerton books and still throughly enjoyed it.

The first three fourths of the book is written as a romantic comedy or farce and was quite enjoyable.

I loved the premise of the hero falling, like every other man, for the "goddess" Hermoine. The author deserves praise for not falling into the old "he then falls for the heroine instead because the goddess is a bi*ch" which Hermoine wasn't-she was beautiful AND a good person.

I do give props to the Harry Potter reference-the characters name is "Hermoine Watson"-Potter character Hermoine Granger is played in the movies by Emma Watson-so I had to laugh when I read that-Miss Quinn must be a fan:)

Back to this book-the author did a big 360 degree turn towards the end of the story with the story and how the characters behave. It went from comedy to drama with horrible family members and the heroine-who turned from a intelligent, brave go getter to a wimp who gets literally abused into doing something she doesn't want to. This change takes away from the story and wasn't needed in this book.

Without going into more of the story-I feel that if the book would have been kept on a comedic tone throughout it would be a five star book. But-that being said-it was still quite enjoyable and well worth reading.
    4 stars!

Very, extraordinarily bad writing and a very bad ending to the Bridgerton series. I can't believe Lucy won't be cheating on Gregory every chance she gets. Come on...she rejects a man she loves who she knows has a powerful family because Daddy said to marry someone else? Please. Nonsense. Lucy has no spine. Any man could get her on her back if she'll knuckle under that easily. This is not a romance, this is a bad divorce case in five years.
