Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden is an exciting, action packed, and truly a perfect book about the amazing true story of the Army’s Special Forces mission of the battle of Mogadishu. A Ranger regiment, a delta force regiment, and 4 navy seals are heading out to the heart of Mogadishu to capture 2 deeds from the Somalia militia, to convince the militia genocide that had been occurring. But the brave young men are yet to overcome the extreme casualties they will suffer throughout the mission.
The Army hears word of the operation and get very excited, in their eyes they have been training for this there whole life’s. Delta Force later captures a very important piece of Intel, and brings him to talk about of few things. The mission is approved, they are briefed, and the word to start the operation is IRENE! Then they all suit up, and get all there gear ready. They then board the black hawks and head off. The rangers deploy from the black hawks and become instant targets, there being shot at left and right! Delta force enters the building and the deeds aren’t there. Delta leaves Mogadishu and heads back to the base with the convoy but will later return. Two black hawks are shot down and the rangers are told to go and set up perimeters around the crash sites so they can bring in evac-.
The one word that describes this book is Bravery. I would recommend this book to teens and adults, no one under 7th grade. I think it was a historical and interesting story of the brave men of the army special forces and there story throughout Mogadishu.

I found this book to be interesting and an enjoyable read but at times it was difficult to keep track of what armed units were doing what and where.

I love war books and this was a classic movie that I watched years ago that depicts the Battle of Mogadishu, a raid integral to the United States' effort to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. It started as a easy mission where 100 men was sent in to capture Mohamed Farrah Aidid but two Blackhawk copters were shot down by rpgs and so the mission was extended up to 14 hours, leading to more and more death casaulties. At the end of the raid, the remaining of the troops got back to the base and it was calculated that 19 Americans and approximately 1000 Somalis died in the conflict. I found this movie very emotional because everyone that was sent in knew each other and one by one they fell. This lead to me imagining Elro getting sent in for war with everyone just getting killed and all I can do is fight on to survive. It's pretty depressing.
