“I didn't finish this. It was written about ten years ago. When I skipped ahead to the section on predictions for 2009, I didn't think he quite got it right (or even nearly so). I soured on it a bit after that.”

“How much do we humans enjoy our current status as the most intelligent beings on earth? Enough to try to stop our own inventions from surpassing us in smarts? If so, we'd better pull the plug right now, because if Ray Kurzweil is right we've only got until about 2020 before computers outpace the human brain in computational power. “I am trying to read the penguin edition. But i didn't find the ISBN number here. I found the audio casette which have the same editor but not the book.”

“I'm keeping an eye on futurist Ray Kurzweil's predictions from 2000. He is an amazing guy, and it's not easy to be a "futurist;" not for long, anyhow (unless, you get things right). Some of his theories here are not that far-fetched and the time is coming...”
