No literary piece had moved me so much as Sir Salman Rushdies's Booker Prize winning- 'Midnight's Children'.

It chronicles the journey of a boy who was born exactly at Midnight on 15th August 1947, possessing telepathic powers that can mentally network all 'Midnight's Children' of Independant India

The best part of the book is the hallucination in the Sunderbans. Takes you over a ride of fantasy that cuts off all connections with reality. The author has a frightfully wild and colorful imagination that entices his readers and takes them to a state of exhilaration.

Post Script : The author's blasphemous literary work- 'The Satanic Verses' deserves infamy and imposed 'fatwa', due to its extreme ridicule of religious personalities- Islamic and Hindu. Here, creativity has gotten the better of the author's judgement.

Entirely overrated. Saleem's logorrhea, no matter how relevant to his character, is not endearing, interesting, or enlightening. The narrative of the nation is ruined by the language and occasional passages wherein women's happiness is limited to marriage and motherhood.

I think the most over-rated book in the 20th century.

Rushdie's best... But it dove tails in the end.. after what seems a leisurely and well narrated story, it falla into a tizzy in the end, as if the author suddenly realised he wanted to just finish off with the story... Very good read on the whole though... I like Marquez way better...

When you start reading it you wonder if you can read it till the end.And then you start tasting every word , feeling it , seeing it. The most sensual reading experience...
