I honestly dreaded reading this, but I bought it, and I was going to do it. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. At first I wanted to say no way, but his attitude was refreshing after reading several books of "one size fits all, I am a genius with x amount of steps to save your classroom". Intead, even though his approaches may not work for me, I still found it inspiring and motivational. He makes me want to be a better teacher. I like how he contrasted the negative with the...

Didn’t Like It

This was an entertaining, inspiring book. However, one begins to question how this man gets fifth graders to understand "Of Mice and Men", "The Shawshank Redemption", or Shakespeare while also making them master writers and great thinkers and teaching gym and art at the same time. I'm torn about this one.
