“This is the second Picoult book I've read/listened to and once again I am grateful I used time I was wasting in traffic vs actual reading time. I keep thinking I'm gonna be impressed by her books one day, she is after all, a best-selling author..... I found the story pretty thin, there was no surprise moment for me like in My Sister's Keeper, very predictable. The prison scenes were actually the most interesting to me. Pretty sad day when someone as easily entertained as myself can't find much good to say about a novel. I do plan on giving Picoult one more try, but just one, there are too many other books out there to explore.”tatertot wrote this review Thursday, September 6, 2007. “This was the first book by Jodi Picoult I read, but I don't think it is a very strong book and other first-time readers might want to start elsewhere. ^_^;
In some ways, it is similar to some of her more popular books, dramatic courtroom scenes and all. D= However, the pacing is very uneven and I can imagine a lot of people would give up on this book without even finishing it.
Some passages of this book were much better than others, however. Delia's voice seemed much more authentic and interesting than Andrew's did to me, for instance.”
“I loved this book! I was unable to put down once I was half way through the book! I love when I end up in the wee hours of the night only to finish a book, usually nothing can keep me awake so then I know it is a great book. This one was one of the good ones!”ruthelizabeth wrote this review Monday, August 13, 2007. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
