It kept me reading because it's easy, but it's definitely not my favorite.

Didn't finish this.. I don't know if it's because I listened to it but I just thought the writing was so cheesy.

I really enjoy Jodi's books....except this one. I found there to be way too much information that really seemed a bit "random"(Andrew selling meth, Prison Fights, Fitz and his job with the newspaper....and then when he lost his job....Indian Traditions, etc....) Would have liked to see the story go in the direction of how difficult it would have been for Delia to build a relationship with her mother after all the years apart. Jodi Picoult is still one of my favorite authors, however, this one missed the mark for me.

Liked the "theme" of the book. Disliked Delia by the end. Found it mostly annoying (jail, Hopi indians, judge...).

Delia works in search and rescue. She has a daughter with, and is engaged to, Eric, who she has known just about forever. Fitz, best friend to both of them, has also known them forever. It was always the three of them. Delia grew up with a single father as her only parent, as her mother had died in a car crash when Delia was only 4 years old. Except for a missing mother, though, her father gave Delia a perfect childhood. Now, at 32-years old, Delia's world comes crashing down when the police arrive at her doorstep.

I really liked this. This is my first Picoult book, and I was drawn in right away. There were occasional parts that I didn't find as interesting, but overall, I really enjoyed it. It included a few twists and turns along the way. It was told from many different points of view, but the start of the chapter told you who was telling that part of the story. I thought it worked well. It was good to see the same scenario from different points of view.

I read this as part of a book club and I thought it was a good book. I didn't like reading the prison scenes but I think it was a solid effort by Jodi.

To better relate myself to this book i look at the jobs of the three main characters. Delia is a search and rescue detective, Eric being a defense lawyer, and Fitz being a writer. All three jobs job relate back to me in a way because they are all an occupation i have considered or something i may do in the future. This helps me relate to the characters because the job of the characters extremely reflects on what the characters are like. Delia is a search and rescue detective, her personality is one of kind and compassion, but also a determination so strong she can do anything at anytime. Eric is a lawyer, which makes him stand up for what what he believes in with an extreme amount of forcefulness, and love for his family that will overcome any obstacle. Even with those characteristics though, the stress is over-bearing, causing him to become an alcoholic. Lastly, Fitz is a writer, a person with the most compassion of all, trying ot poor all of it into his writing to try and make life seem okay. He focuses on his writing for a way to escape the stress of his life, and the sadness that he will never be with the person he truly cares about.
