Claws is a book about life changing events that take place in the two characters lives. They are brought together by these events and form a bond that leads to a typical high school relationship. They have much more in common than either of them really thought. As the story and their relationship progresses they learn that some things just happen in the lives of adults that they as teens do not quite understand. One of the characters has a slightly rebellious sister who does not quite take well to the separation that the parents are going through and in turn travels off in a canoe in a storm and the main characters go after her. The story ends in tragedy and was a complete shocker to me as the reader. Great book with a holy crap ending.
