First infinite resignation and then faith. Faith by grasping the absurd. I found this all much more fascinating that I thought I would.
It is a difficult book though. I longed for a lecture in a philosophy class about it but since I am long out of school I struggled through on my own.

It does repeat its themes though so by the end, I felt like I understood at least part of it.

You know I love this book: I spent a year writing about it. Kierkegaard seeks to explain why faith is greater (as in more challenging) than following ethics. He really explodes the tension between faith and ethics as well. Of course, Kierkegaard praised the person who is able to make the leap of faith, and I ironically stepped back from the ledge after writing my thesis. Nevertheless, his writing his thought-provoking and interesting.

The story of Abraham and Isaac will blow your hair back. Kierkegaard's teleological suspension of the ethical sheds light on the darkness of Mount Moriah.

Someone introduced me to Soren Kierkegaard a while back, and though my research of his biography left me lukewarm, his struggle and groundbreaking ideas and challenging attitude are inspiring.
