This is my favorite book of the Saxon stories so far. Uhtred was definitely humbled for a time in this book before becoming an even more resilient and a more effective leader. I can not wait to start Sword Song next.

If you enjoy historical novels, Cornwell is a must read. This one is about the Pre-Saxon, England , when the northern part of the country was being invaded by the vikings. Historically very accurate. One is blown away by the ferocity and the tenacity of the lead character.
